Super glue or Crazy glue would probably work best.
They have this glue at like Home Depot that is in a spray can It's great !
Gorilla glue is the bomb. it sticks to almost anything, including rubber and plastic! i use it all of the time. just make sure that you use a damp rag to dampen the surfaces and then clamp them together for 4 hours. It will certainly make things easier!
glue gun???
I'd use good ol' rubber cement, but, hey, I'm kinda old fashioned.

It should hold elf ears okay and you may even be able to peel them off the crown for reuse some other time.

Tensol Cement is a specfic adhesive for acrylic and it is clear and it works by disolving the surface. This is a solvent based adhesive so must be used with care, especaly with pupils in the room. The sickly sweer ';methacrylate odour can be very powerfull.

Expanded polystyrene will disolve with any solvent based glue, but it can be stuck together with PVA as this will absorb into the surface of the glue like a sponge and dry to form a sort of machanical bond at the plastic / adhesive intervace.

Rigid polystyrene can be glued with any plastics adhesive and even tensol cement shoud disolve it. Also, try ';Bison Hard Plastic's Adhesive'; from any DIY store

Sheet acrylic has a high gloss shine which can scratch easily, and the adges MUST be filed and polished to give a quality finish. Many pupils find this tediousPlastic adhesives and Acrylic?

The pick guard is plastic and pretty hardy, so as long as you use something non-corrosive it should be fine. I just dampened it with a damp cloth then rubbed it off. If not, you can buy guitar cleaners from sites like www.dolphinmusic.co.uk

Please, help me determine if there is a simple UV Adhesive that I can use to bond all kinds of Plastics?

I've been researching the web and there are many suppliers for industrial applications, yet I guess those are expen$ive and I just want an adhesive that will truly work and not having to buy more epoxies than I have bought already, so I understand a UV Adhesive could be the answer to my research...

And a true bond for the plastics I am working on with.

By ';simple'; I mean something that has no technical complications and need no Curing equipment or machinery and can be bought at a reasonable price below $50 at a retailer (HomeDepot or such).

Thanks! Please, help me determine if there is a simple UV Adhesive that I can use to bond all kinds of Plastics?
First, let's debunk the misconception that a UV curing acrylic (or even cationic epoxies and vinyl ethers) are well suited to bond plastics. This is quite a generalization. there are UV systems suitable for bonding plastics- I have mentioned both Dymax 429 and Loctite 3321 in past posts as being great plastic adhesives. 3321 is used to bond plastic pieces that make up medical devices. Many of the 400 and 600 series from Dymax are also used for this app. So, these would be bonding tygon to other plastics. so on, so forth. Most other systems are not really well suited. All the UV companies would much rather sell a glass or metal application due to complexity of application

So many people want to bond plastics together. bottom line, it is a SOB to bond these well. the first thing we do in the industry is start looking for primers. there are some etchants made for olefins. they are difficult to use. then, there are the solvent based systems like the ones offered by lord. Next, we start looking at plasma and flame/corona pretreatments. (notice I have not even selected the glue yet). You really need to select one of these, no matter what the plastic.

Polyethylenes and polypros are super tough to stick to. It is like sticking something to wax. Many times, these systems are welded with heat or ultrasonic systems.

Now for the glues we use- acrylics and methacrylics. the methacrylics from 3M (8005 and 8010) are about as good as it will get. I don't believe you can find someone to order this for you. Give it a try, though. The ITW plexus systems are also pretty good. You are looking at $40-50 for 50mL. Once in a while, a urethane from Lord can work (santoprene with primers could work). For acrylic and ABS plastics, most people either use solvent welding or a solvent based acrylic.

Your only chance based on the parameters you have given is a 2 part urethane with a ton of scrubbing and roughing up of the surface prior to bonding. At that, I give you a 25% chance that this will work for ';any'; plastic. sometimes it will based on the plastic, most of the time it will not.

Lastly, would people stop answering gorilla glue as a solution to every (*%26amp;)^%26amp;( adhesive problem? it has its place- on wood and sometimes metal fixtured during cure. Go use gorilla glue as a fix for urinary tract infections. that suggestion makes about as much sense to me as the ones offered up in the adhesives questions/solutionsPlease, help me determine if there is a simple UV Adhesive that I can use to bond all kinds of Plastics?
    Hi abcallasisimple,

Have you tried Gorilla glue ( lol I just call it monkey glue)? You just need some water %26amp; Gorilla glue. I've used in on wood, glass (broke my favorite china dish), my bed frame. I used C-clamps to hold the bed frame together. My oldest brother used it on his pvc pipes.

I got it at Ace Hardware store ( besides the guys here always help me out), but I am pretty sure Menard's carries it also. Maybe they can tell you if it would work on plastic.
You want to try Bond 527, it is a glue that is made specifically for surfaces that don't have any ';grab';..metals, glass, plastic. Dries clear, ';cures'; in about 24-48 hours just being out in the open. Runs about 3-5 dollars per tube. Also has tips available for fine applications

Its all depend upon the plastic material. PP and PE has poor adhesion properties. Other plastic material has good adhesion properties.

What is the best adhesive for plastic on painted metal?

I have purchased a hollow, rubber-like plastic draft excluder that I want to use around the lip of a lidded box to keep the lid from rattling and, hopefully, keep out water. Although the draft excluder has a clip-like lip the rim of the box has no feature that allows that any purchase, thus I decided on adhesive.

At first I tried a thin superglue that I happened to have lying around but this did nothing more than leave a crystaline residue. Today I tried ';No More Nails'; in the hope that its purported ';instant grab'; would do the trick, however after several minutes constant pressure the stuff was still liquid and had had no apparent benefit.

So, I decided I'd ask here. What would be the best adhesive/glue for the (probably PVC, I think) plastic draft excluder and a painted metal box? What is the best adhesive for plastic on painted metal?
Hi, firstly No More Nails needs at least one of the surfaces it is adhering to to be porous and neither of yours are so that's why that did not work. There is one glue that sticks anything and everything. You can get 'Araldite' from B%26amp;Q and probably a few other DIY stores. Make sure you get the right one though as there a few. Ask in the store when you get there but as a guide you are looking for a blister pack that contains a syringe which is segregated into two parts. This is how the glue comes. Basically you need to mix it by hand with the implements supplied with it and then smear it over both surfaces. Do it quickly as it does part set quite quickly. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter and leave the glue to cure properly for at least 12-24 hours. Good luck!!What is the best adhesive for plastic on painted metal?
Epoxy almost always works but make sure you get the type for the materials you are gluing. The epoxy will be labeled and will have different working and curing time depending on what you buy.

You could also try good old caulk. It works a lot better than most people think for a sealer. But it has a long set up time and cure time. But a good caulk maintains its seal with its flexibility during temperature changes.
Check with your nearest hardware store for 2 sided tape......They make some really strong 2 sided tape now a days......

Also you don't have to huff all that epoxy fumes also you don't have to worry about all the mess.....

Method of preparation of a synthetic glue which should be useful for labeling paper on plastic materialHow to make an adhesive for sticking paper to a plastic surface like,DPE drums, pet bottles,?
I make wheat paste all the time for stuff. Usually to glue paper to walls. And it works really well. Recently I mixed wheat paste with sawdust and made a good wood glue that is amazingly strong.

How I make this glue is pretty simple. First take flour and water and about equal proportions and mix them together. Then boil a pot of water, about as much water as you put in the previous mixture. So I guess it should come out to be about 1/3 flour 2/3 water. You could probably toy with the proportions a bit. Once it gets boiling. Pour the first mixture into the boiling water and start stiring. One hint though, DONT just put the flour into the boiling water. It wont work. Keep stirring for a few minutes until its really homogeneous. Then you have glue!

I use wheat flour, and that usually leaves a brown residue one whatever I am gluing, making some parts not completely transparent. Ive never tried white flour, but I'd assume its better at being transparent.

    Your question is somewhat ambiguous.

What comes to mind is a thin teflon.

I have operated a plastic welding machine that operates at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

It has a teflon belt 0.005 inches thick.

That is just a little thicker than a human hair.

It is available in greater thickness up to about 0.020 inches.

This passes the heat readily but keeps the plastic from sticking to the heated die section.

A spray such as teflon or maybe a cooking spray will suffice, as long as you are aware of the flash point involved in your process. If this is not acceptable i would consider a powder, lime or micah? You are not actually paid to do this kind of process are you, and if so I want a job there because it probably pays good, im unemployed, and I dont think you know what you are doing.

    Sticky non-adhesive plastic material?

What's the name of the plastic material you often get on new screens (on phones, tv's etc.) which sticks to smooth surfaces but isn't actually sticky in the sense it doesn't use an adhesive (its more like a geko foot or something). And also can you buy it in sheets?Sticky non-adhesive plastic material?
    Pressure sensitive adhesives:

Removable adhesives are designed to form a temporary bond, and ideally can be removed after months or years without leaving residue on the adherend. Removable adhesives are used in applications such as surface protection films, masking tapes, bookmark and note papers, price marking labels, promotional graphics materials, and for skin contact (wound care dressings, EKG electrodes, athletic tape, analgesic and transdermal drug patches, etc.). Some removable adhesives are designed to repeatedly stick and unstick. They have low adhesion and generally can not support much weight.

  • What is the best adhesive for waxy plastic?

I'd guess a polyurethane glue, like Gorilla Glue (read the instructions though and have to follow them)... it sticks most anything to anything.

Otherwise you could try a tube glue that says it's ';for plastics,'; or a 2 part epoxy glue (longer setting ones are a bit stronger than shorter setting ones)... perhaps roughing up the area first.

I have just rescently found a miracle solution. A Hot Glue Gun and then put in a packet of Ce-Lit powdered solder
temporary measure but works, white of a egg. do not put the yoke in.if you want reliable replace it (radiator). there is several things you can poar in as well - rad weld ,etc . have a look in car accessory shop
I dought there is a permanent repair for it. Might be able to get you by until you can get a radiator but I wouldn't trust it as a permanent repair. There is a rubber seal under the plastic tank and it is crimped onto the radiator with little metal tabs. Would be difficult to get any kind of sealant in there.
my huband said try heat resistant arrowdite. hope that helps
A radiator specialist might be able to fix it, but any repair, either professional or DIY must be regarded as temporary. The real answer is replacement. You might get one from a breakers.
None, the proper repair is to replace the tank. There are no adhesives for that material that will stand up to the expansion and contraction that goes along with the heat and the cooling system has to pressurize to approximately 16 PSI to work correctly.

Good god. Is that the stuff you have on you? Ure-Bond? that specific product? You should have been wearing rubber gloves, and you're not supposed to use that as a casting resin, it's a glue. See if you can track down the MSDS safety sheet on that product. Here I found it. http://sculpt.com/ go to ';tech support'; then click on the MSDS link.

here's a quote from that product:

Be careful. Part A contains methylene diisocyanate (MDI). Vapors, which can be significant if material is heated or sprayed, cause lung damage and sensitization. Use only with adequate ventilation. Contact with skin and eyes may cause severe irritation. Flush eyes with water for 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention. You will probably have to wait and let it wear off when your skin sheds. You could try calling the manufacturer.

Next time, follow the label and wear gloves! All that sort of stuff is toxic and doesn't wash off.
All I can think of is nail polish remover. Give that a try.. If it doesn't work, try to call the manufacturer today. Otherwise, it will take about 6 days to slough off. Good luck.

Tensol cement is the best thing for gluing acrylic together!

    Not sure about polysterene
Try Unibond 'No more nails', that sticks just about anything to anything else!
none of them work well go get them done they will look better and stay on longer diy just cant compare unless you are a pro
you'd do well to phone the technical helplines for Bostik or Geocel to tell you about the adhesives available - or email them.

a wholesaler of plastics sheets, i can't suggest anyone, would probably help you on the acrylic sheet question.
many of the acrylic-acrylic systems are solvent based acrylics themselves. since acrylic can be solvated with MEK, most of them utilize this. So, someone takes a binder/block acrylic resin (aka PMMA beads) and dissolves. the solvent attacks the sheets, and leaves acrylic behind.

same thing with the PS- some are solvent based systems with far less aggressive solvents. EtOH would probably work. Most of the time, I believe these are thermally welded systems, however.

Acrylics and PS can also be glued together with methacrylates (ITW Plexus and 3M 8010)

I don't know what D and T is (dimension and tolerance)? If so, acrylic is not thermally stable and has a huge CTE versus metals and glass. most acrylics soften/melt ~100C

If I'm buying self adhesive Vinyl for a decal to apply to plastic, Do i need to use masking to apply? explain?

I'm trying to do my own decal work on my hockey mask and I'm buying vinyl that already has adhesive on the sheets. I've seen videos where is is necessary to use a squeegee and masking to apply the vinyl. Do I need to use masking when the vinyl comes with adhesive already? thanks! If I'm buying self adhesive Vinyl for a decal to apply to plastic, Do i need to use masking to apply? explain?
Masking tape is used to aid in positioning. Before you take off the release paper on the back of the vinyl exposing the adhesive, running a piece of masking tape along one edge leaving one half of the strip free to be able to tape in place onto the object creating sort of a hinge. One would then fold over like opening a book, take the release paper off and slowly - working from the hinge area firs- close the book working the adhesive side of the vinyl onto the item. Once the vinyl is down the masking tape would be removed.

Now here is another definition- in the sign business we use masking in wide rolls to cover the surface of the vinyl to stabilize the vinyl while applying it. So to be clear you have the vinyl ,a release paper on the back and masking on the front.

Think of it as a whole long word being held in place by both from and back. If you did not have the masking on the front when you removed the release paper backing you would have a bunch of individual letters all over the place. It is hard to describe any better here. Maybe going to www.gregory1.com - maybe there you can find some visuals about the process.

BUT BUT BUT -you have a very special item and that technique will not work! It only works on relatively flat surfaces.

Here's what to do. If you lightly moisten the mask with a fine mist if water if you do not have the special liquids that sign makers have. Then place the vinyl adhesive side down. When you smooth out the bubbles the water will carry out the air and allow the adhesive to contact and conform to the irregular surface. It will be a little work but this method can help sometimes with minor repositioning too.

The adhesive it not effected by the water and will be permanent once squeegeed firmly and dry.If I'm buying self adhesive Vinyl for a decal to apply to plastic, Do i need to use masking to apply? explain?
I've made decals useing a Silk Screen Process..

    ===

    Useing self adhesive Blank Vinyl..??

    ..would reguire the multiple colors..

..that would resemble the Silk Screen Process..

    ===

The newest types of Digital Video also use the LAYERING-process..

..maybe like in NEMO..the ocean is a single layer..and NEMO himself becomes the added layer..and passing animations are third layer's/

    ===

    For a vinyl decal..emblem..like a tattoo../

You have a design of contour and color(seperation)..

You would use different colored vinyl and a stencil type of process..

    Like a STOP SIGN..has 2-colors..the red background--then the lettering..plus a decortive border..all inside of 2-colors..

The situation really becomes a matter of SMOOTH--layering..

In the silk screen process..::let's say a Butterfly..you would create sheets of FILM--some are water soluable--some need a chemical thinner..that makes them adhere to a SILK SCREEN(frame)where ink will Squeegee--all the differnt pieces of a Buttlerfly character..keeping a FLAT Surface..as the end result..

    ===

    SOOOooo...for the vinyl..

Let's say a Stop Sign..the RED background color would need the actual SPELLED...STOP--carved into it..

Then you would INLAY..the cut out words...Letters...//S-T-O-P

    ..which would create a Flat-design..

    ===

You would then have a situation of installing the decal...without the thing coming apart..

This would require a TOP-sheet(laminate)..to hold the whole thing together..while you would have your back(adhesive)..for applying..

    ===

    So...there would be three..layers...

I think its called a Cricket.
After you design your decal with an exacto-knife or what ever, you will need to ';weed'; out the portions you do not want on your hockey mask.

Next, peel off all the surrounding edges so your decal is the only thing left. Now, here is where your masking comes into play (also known as spacing tape). You need to cover your decal with masking to keep the entire decal in ';one piece'; when you transfer the image to your hockey mask.

Masking tape is then used to hold the decal in position while you peel back the release liner and apply the decal.

Without masking or spacing tape - you would have to carefully line up all your pieces and then it would not have the correct spacing as you designed.

    Hope this helps!

  • Bought an older house (1950's) pulled off plastic tiles. Now I have yellow adhesive how do I get it off?

I have a sander and adhesive remover but so far so slow going almost feels not worth it any suggestions?Bought an older house (1950's) pulled off plastic tiles. Now I have yellow adhesive how do I get it off?
I have run into this problem numerous times. The best solution is to purchase a propane torch and a paint scrapper preferably a five in one from the paint department and heat the adhesive and scrape it off.Just be careful not to burn down the place.I guarantee this will work. Then you can use the adhesive to remove the residue.Bought an older house (1950's) pulled off plastic tiles. Now I have yellow adhesive how do I get it off?
The adhesive residual is easily removed by applying contact cement thinners (solvent type) with a soft cloth. Saturate the area with thinners scrubbing lightly with a paintbrush. Remove with a soft cloth and rinse well with water.

Try this in a small area. Try to find a thinner that is non-flammable. If you can get only a flammable type best not to have the furnace or heater on.
Sanding is slow. I always busted out the old plaster and hung new drywall up or you could get 3/8'' board and hang over the existing.

Need a strong adhesive to stick metal with plastic?

i need to stick the shaft of the motor with a plastic wheel. the motor carries a payload of 4-5 kilos. any suggessions pls........Need a strong adhesive to stick metal with plastic?
    gorilla glue

What is the best adhesive to use to bond plastic and metal together?

It does depend on the type of plastic , some of the waxy feeling type are notoriously difficult to glue up.

If you have this type then can I recommend a product called MILLIPUT, this comes in three colours ,red, yellow, and white , there is also a forth colour white but fine, this is good for the repair of fine china (but not handles in use)

Scratch the plastic so as to gain a grip with the Milliput and use as directed.(Even drill a few small holes for increased grip if it is convenient)

This stuff is also great for temporarily fixing leaks on pipes and radiators etc, without draining down.

Good hardware stores hold stocks. What is the best adhesive to use to bond plastic and metal together?
The correct glue depends on just which metal and which plastic you are dealing with. Polyethylene is particularly difficult to glue. Companies like Loctite (owned by Henckel) produce compatibility charts to help you select the correct glue. What is the best adhesive to use to bond plastic and metal together?
Depends what your sticking together - could be as simple as superglue but could use 2 pack cement
    Superglue.

contact cement brushed on both surfaces...

Have hard plastic sheet w/ protective paper both sides. How can the adhesive, holding the paper, be removed?

Plastic type is acrylic. Paper comes off leaving adhesive behind.

Have tried: (1) soap and water, (2) Product called OoopsHave hard plastic sheet w/ protective paper both sides. How can the adhesive, holding the paper, be removed?
Honestly, I don't know, however, I wanted to give you a warning. I tried to clean up some acrylic with Goof Off one time and it ended up cracking it, so be careful what you experiment with.Have hard plastic sheet w/ protective paper both sides. How can the adhesive, holding the paper, be removed?
If this is a new sheet of plastic, then the paper%26amp; adhesive will come off together -------- HOWEVER if not new or if it has gotten wet then start over with a new sheet, I've never been able to sucessfully remove the mess. If you bought it as new and this has happened then take it back to the supplier.
Honestly, the adhesive film should just peel up with the paper. Can you gouge the film in an inconspicuous spot to try and get under it to peel it up? Sometimes, depending on how the acrylic is cut, it can be really hard to grab the film.

Is there a PLASTIC PIPE ADHESIVE remover?

nope sorry. once its on it creates a chemical bond/seal that cant be removed. cut it out and put in a coupler. thats the best and easiest thing to do.

if u have the glue on something else try goof off or mineral spirits to loosten it up. u may need to use a little elbow greaseIs there a PLASTIC PIPE ADHESIVE remover?
laquor thinner may do it. sand paper will for sureIs there a PLASTIC PIPE ADHESIVE remover?
PVC Cement and ABS Cement are just the resin of the polymer that you want to connect dissolved in a mixture of Acetone, MEK and a few other solvents, so to redissolve the adhesive you would apply a mixture of Acetone and Methyl Ethyl Ketone to it and wait for it to soften, then scrape away any that is partially dissolved and reapply. If you are trying to seperate a joint in the pipe, don't bother, it won't work. But, this is a perfect solution if you did something like drip the adhesive onto a countertop or onto the floor. If this is the case I would recomend scraping away all you can without damaging the underlying surface, then apply the solvent and scrape the drip and continue until you have a clean surface. Just be careful about the surface that you are cleaning it off of, if it is a solid-surface countertop, Corian etc., the solvents might damage the underlying surface, so test the solvent in an inconspicuos location first.

Why not just stick blank labels over the airline labels? Sounds like it would be easier to cover them over then remove them.
    WD-40
What about heavy duty tape? It may not take all the backing of the sticker off but it would pull the front of the label off that has all the printing on it...don't you think? If you're ok with evidence of the label being there i think this would be the best way!?

The adhesive and the wall behind the 1950's plastic tile is sound. Can we put c tile right over it? Thank you

We are remodeling this bathroom. The walls are in fine shape. This will not be in a moisture area. The tub area we will be putting in the cement backerboard. This is only the other wall area. Also, the rubber ceiling tiles, can we effectively paint over that or do we have to tear down the entire ceiling. I'd rather not have to take down the walls and the ceiling. The adhesive and the wall behind the 1950's plastic tile is sound. Can we put c tile right over it? Thank you
As long as the existing subsurface is sound, you can put tile over it. The rubber ceiling tiles can be painted over, be sure to clean them and use a bonding primer first. Make sure of course to use a paint, or a paint additive to ensure that it will be mold and mildew resistant. The adhesive and the wall behind the 1950's plastic tile is sound. I think I might use super glue or rubber cement.
remember, not all super glue works on plastic. a hot glue gun might work, depending on the plastic, but i know it would stick to the rubber for sure, and those can be bought anywhere for like $7. you might also go to your local craft store (Joann's, Michaels) and ask them for a heavy duty glue specifically for plastic. it will most likely end up costing you less than $10.

Rhonda is right - Goo Gone庐 is a wonder product for removing the sticky leftovers of adhesive labels. A few tiny drops will completely remove any sticky residue.
I just let them soak in hot soapy water and then wash as normal.
Avon Skin-so Soft oil is the best and most pleasant to use and smell. It is good for so many things. You can also use a ';Chore Girl'; steel wool pad and soapy water. Let it soak for an hour.

I have no idea what kind of plastic. I'm repairing a cracked drawer bracket.

Rubber cement? Plumbing adhesive? Ideas? What's the best adhesive to use to join two pieces of flat plastic?
There is a speacial glue. I think it's called acitone, or acitate. We used it in shop class when I was in school. You can find out for sure if you can contact ';TAP PLASTICS';. Thats the companies name. What's the best adhesive to use to join two pieces of flat plastic?
There is new stuff coming out all the time. When you go to the hardware store to buy some, look at the labels. There is glue for metal, plastics, pvc, fiberglass, and others. Look for the glue that says it will adhere to plastic. Remember not all glues are alike. Now if I see this correctly. To just glue the bracket together may not be enough. You may need to somehow glue a flat piece of something on top of the broke bracket, so the flat piece spans both sides of the bracket.
Gluing will probably not work for very long. Your best bet is to visit you local hardware store and they should have a replacement part for you for not much money. l have found that if one place doesn't have an exact replacement, try the next store. Since the plastic bracket is probably part of a set of hardware for the drawer, unless it is a very close replacement part, it will not work well with the other parts.

Use a two-part epoxy, available from any hardware or auto parts store. Make sure surfaces are clean and you get the epoxy mixed well. Secure the parts while the epoxy is drying for the full cure period, usually 24 hours or so (even the quick 5-minute stuff if you read the fine print needs a day to fully cure). What is a good adhesive to use to repair a broken plastic car bumper?

I used some olive oil on a sticky problem I had. Then I ran it through the dishwasher (top rack) and the adhesive was gone. Hope it works :)How do you remove the adhesive from a price tag off of a plastic bowl?
You have already peeled off as much of the paper top of the label as you could, so now rub with cooking oil or even WD-40. There is a product call ';goo-gone'; that is probably worth keeping in the house for this sort of problem, but try the cooking oil first. Rub it in with a paper towel and it should gradually come off. Then wash the bowl with soap and rinse. Definitely don't use any abrasives, they will remove the finish on the plastic.
I usually just take a little cooking oil - any one will do, like vegetable oil, olive oil, etc., - and rub it on the adhesive. I let it sit for a little while, then come back with a paper towel and with firm pressure, rub the adhesive spot away. If that doesn't work, then try the same procedure with a little dab of laundry detergent. Hope this helps!
take a ice cube and rub it over and over on the tag glue, and it will be easier to use your finger nail to get it off.

    repeat as needed
You could try using a hair dryer on it. It usually works on stickers when they are on hard surfaces.

good old epoxy should do the trick, almost all glues are nonconductiveIs there an electrically non-conductive adhesive I can use to bind metal and plastic?
There are also double-sided tapes of various thicknesses. This has the benefit of being removable later if you should want to reuse the breadboard for some other project. We use double-sided foam tapes in several assemblies.
I have used hot glue from a hot glue gun to do this exact type of project. A hot glue gun can be found CHEAP in the hobby or craft section of any large department store. Hardware places like Home Depot and the like charge way more. You can get the same exact gun (maybe a different color plastic because it is in the hobby section) for extremely cheap. I bought mine (with glue sticks) for about $2.
    5 or 6 minute epoxy
Just use a very small dab of epoxy and bake it to harden - used in industry all the time.
    All of the following work:

hot melt glue, gorilla glue(Polyurethane glue), epoxy resin(2part mix), and super glue. The polyurethane glue will probably adhere best to the plastic and metal.
heat glue, gorilla glue(home depot), epoxy resin(2part mix)

they make a product called ';release agent'; it is designed to take weather stripping off cars. best adhesive remover on the planet. I use it on plastics and painted surfaces and it never does harm.
Try acetone. It will take it right off.
Acetone may do it, if the surface won't be ruined by it. Alcohol may work; you might try that first.
Zippo lighter fluid. Works wonders on plastic for removing adhesive. I use it to remove the adhesive from the CD jewel case stickers/seals.

Does anyone have any idea what this material is and what adhesive will work to mend a large crack?Looking for correct plastic adhesive?
The cowl has gone past its use by date. The UV has made the plastic go brittle an no amount of glue will fix it. you might be able to fix it enough to make a mould to cast a fibreglass copyLooking for correct plastic adhesive?
Proper Epoxy will stick to it. High grade product like West System will work. The plastic MUST be wiped with Acetone the sanded and fiberglass must be used to reinforce the repair.

However, the best alternative might be Plexus or Lifecaulk.

Polyeurethanes like 3M 5200 are super strong but will eventually degrade the plastic further.

I have no idea how the sticky substance got onto the camera or what it is exactly (got there after my sis used the camera). It looks and feels like the sticky grime that some stickers leave on certain surfaces after you peel off the sticker. I've tried wiping it with mild soap solution but that wasn't very helpful. They only way I know of removing the substance is by slowly and painstakingly scraping it to the side and then pinching it off but it takes forever and no matter how hard I try there's always going to be some grime left over. If you can't wait the whole 24 hrs, then don't apply it. The scoop allready comes with the proper adhesive. You won't find any glue that doesn't have about a 24 hr. cure window. By the way, make sure all the wax is off the area to apply it or it will fail to adhere, no matter what you use.Whats the best glue/adhesive i can use to bond plastic onto metal?
I would not try it. Imagine driving down the road and seeing the scoop fly over the top of the car. Personal opinion is that I would not use glue-only to hold something like this on an area that is subject to the amount of wind and heat as a car hood. I would have fasteners going through the hood.

What type of adhesive to glue together wood and plastic?

I'm fixing to fashion myself a faux-crossbow for Halloween. I have a kiddie plastic bow and a two-by-four, but all I have for glue is basic Elmer's.

I'm not looking for it to be workable, just able to stay together well enough that the bow's not going to crack off of the wood at every little bump it receives.

  • Whats the best adhesive for plastic?

Kind of an odd question, but I dropped my xbox 360 controller on the floor and the edge of the handle (where the grey underside of the controller meets the handle split. Basically what happened was the screw shafts on the inside broke apart. I have all the pieces and screws but I need an adhesive that will hold the shafts together once I put a screw in. Regular super or crazy glue comes apart when I try to twist the screws in. Any thoughts?Whats the best adhesive for plastic?
I'd use an ABS Cement... available at ANY good hobby store. That should WELD the shafts back to the plastic.

My second choice would be a 2 part epoxy.Whats the best adhesive for plastic?
Testors model cement. It's a solvent cement, designed for plastics.

I would suggest using the type in the tube, because it's thicker.

Contact adhsives are typically used for plastics but most plastic glues don't have a lot of strength. You could look into using an epoxy resin glue to re-enforce as well as bond the items together.

What glue or adhesive is best to glue plastic together?

I am trying to glue to pieces of plastic together Polypropylene and Ethylene-Vinyl Copolymer. What glue or adhesive works best? I have already tried Gorilla Glue, Gorilla Glue Super Glue and Epoxy. I read that Chloroform works great. Please Advise. Thanks! What glue or adhesive is best to glue plastic together?
Chloroform and MEK can only work if the plastics will dissolve in them.

Polypropylene won't. I don't know about the other.

    Polyprop. is not glue friendly.

Can you heat weld them instead?

Can I use Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive to help mount a plastic piece to my concrete ceiling?

I'm mounting my stripper pole and I need something that can handle sheer movement to help secure it. It's already drilled in and everything but I wanted to add some glue because the pressure seems to unscrew it. Will Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive do the trick? Can I use Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive to help mount a plastic piece to my concrete ceiling?
I wouldn't trust it, especially for a stripper pole. I presume that part of your routine would involve hanging from it. If there is a way to fit a collar around the top of the pole and anchor that to the ceiling, it would be a lot sturdier. Hope this helps. Can I use Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive to help mount a plastic piece to my concrete ceiling?
Is the plastic ring a decorative trim piece, or is it intended to be structural, that is, to actually hold the pole in place?

If I were trying to secure a pole, or post like this, I wouldn't rely on a piece of plastic to hold the pole securely -- I'd use a metal flange, secured with concrete fasteners and perhaps some epoxy. THEN I'd put a plastic trim piece over that... but the plastic would be just that -- trim to hide the real fasteners, and not something I was relying on to hold the pole in place.

3M Marine Adhesive Sealant on Plastic Pelican Fishing boat crack?

think so3M Marine Adhesive Sealant on Plastic Pelican Fishing boat crack?
Probably not. Most molded plastic boats cannot be glued at all. The HDPE plastic is so inert that virtually nothing will adhere to it. Repairs are usually made by welding with heat and a plastic filler rod. There are a few products that might work but will not stand up to much strain or flexing:

    King StarBond

    3M Scotch-Weld DP-8005
it will fix the problem but probably only temporally keep an eye on it
3m's 5200 underwater sealant will stop the leak, but it won't repair it. When the plastic flexes, you're going to get wet.

Got adhesive grime stuck on plastic back cover of my camera. Mild soap wipe didnt work. How do I remove?

The camera is a Nikon F80 SLR with a back cover that allows date printing. The cover is made of plastic probably some kind of thermoplastic. Please help. Many thanks!Got adhesive grime stuck on plastic back cover of my camera. Mild soap wipe didnt work. How do I remove?

I am not a camera expert (dont even know what your talking about, sorry!) but most adhesive on plastic can be removed easily by freezing. I dont know if this is possible, ie: can you remove the back? but might be helpful.

    Good Luck
You can buy ';plaster remover'; liquid from a chemist - its designed to remove the adhesive off plasters that remains on your skin.

HOWEVER - I am not sure that this would be safe to use on the surface of your camera..... be careful.
Try a soft cloth and acetone (or nail varnish remover if you have any). A few firm wipes and...hey presto!
Try dabbing alcohol. Not too much. it releases the adhesive
take the cover off an clean it with white spirit - anything else will damage it as will scraping!!!
Dont be daubing chemical crap all over the back of your camera - its a recipe for disaster, get some 1 inch wide sellotape and stick it to the gunk, you'll be surprised how easily it'll remove it.
Goo-Gone from the hardware store. Removes gooey glue/ahesive residues.

Also, sometimes just the heat created from the friction of rubbing it with a thumb or forefinger can do the trick. Just be sure to push it all the same direction and pick the rolls off as they appear at the edge of the surface.

Liquid nails is a colored caulk and if the plastic sheeting is transparent or translucent then you would see the liquid nails through it.

Get contact cement. apply to both surfaces and let dry to the touch then apply them together. Make sure you are squared up because once it touches you won't move it.

not sure if it is avail. in a spray. Make sure you get the clear contact cement some has a yellow tint to it when it dries.

I think what you want is a true oxymoron-- adhesive that's good that is in a spray format.

I agree with the liquid nails or contact cement-- however-- say goodbye to the nutcracker-- don't think you'll ever retrieve it from the plastic.

It's what contractors use to adhere things like mirrors to walls. It comes in one of those large caulking tubes and you will need to use a caulking gun with it. (Bet you can borrow one from someone...)

Ususally costs around $4 for a big tube of the generic brand of it. Available at wal-mart, home depot, etc.

Spray glue won't work if what you are gluing has any weight to it - and it doesn't work well on porous surfaces like plywood.

It's called Spray Bond, but don't waste your time and money on it.

You might be able to paint what you have. You need to find out if it actual wood, wood veneer, or a product that just looks like wood. You might be able to sand it down and make it work.
    there's laminate.

i dont think there's paper, it would rip.

    plastic maybe.
I wouldn't put ANYTHING on top of existing countertops. You are just asking for problems if you do that. The best solution is to put down a new countertop. But it is just an apartment you are renting, right? Nothing is beautiful in places you rent. You are only there temporarily. Didn't you see the place before you moved in? You should have asked the landlord if he was planning on doing something about the countertop then. You don't want to put something down now, and have them take part of your deposit away when you move out if they don't agree with what you do. You gotta live with it.
There's a product for just that, called CONTACT it comes in numerous patterns.
you can just go to the tyle store and tyle the top

I suggest a water based contact cement. DuPont may even have a brand name.

The stuff I use is a nice aqua color, has very little smell, NON flammable, not very toxic, and drys rapidly. It can be brushed or rolled on both opposing surfaces, and works as well as any glue I've ever tried. I do a lot of FOAM gluing.

Another feature I like about the WB contact cement is that it cleans with soap and water initially, and yet works with the same properties as the lacquer based once dry.

Best adhesive for sticking plastic to ceramic tiles?

I need to mount a plastic extractor fan to ceramic tiles in my bathroom. What is the best adhesive to use?Best adhesive for sticking plastic to ceramic tiles?
Recently I used a glue that does what it says and I believe it will work on almost anything. Called Shoe Goo. It comes on a card and about a 3 oz tube is less than $3.00 here. I believe its kin to a polymer family of adhesives which once cured are not going to come off in one piece. silicone is good for caulking cracks but this stuff is a real adhesive. There is a sealer I buy that smells something like the shoe goo called Polly______ ( kinda smells like acrylic nail polish - really stinky). cant remember the rest of the name in a caulk tube, tube is silver %26amp; aluminum in color with blue lettering or background. and its tuff when set up and around $7-10 a caLk tube. can get this at a lumber yard maybe even wal mart. Let me know if you cant find it - lowes, local hardware store, and ace hardware is another outlet. If it dosnt work for you I'd like to know. cause I cant think of how it would not work. Might recomend cleaning surfaces with nail polish remover before applying though.Best adhesive for sticking plastic to ceramic tiles?
You can find double-sided foam adhesive in the home centers. This is very easy to use and gives a good seal that will also help to quiet any vibration between the fan and the ceramic tiles. As a bonus, it is removable.

Squire Fat Strat pickguard plastic adhesive removal help?

Now there are dull sticky patches of what appears to be remaining adhesive on some of the pickguard surface. What is a safe, careful way of getting this leftover adhesive off?Squire Fat Strat pickguard plastic adhesive removal help?
Hello, AJ! The plastic on the pickguard was just a protective layer, intended to be removed by the end user. I am surprised that it left any residue, but it can be easily removed with ordinary lighter fluid (naptha). Just apply a small amount to a paper towel or cloth, and rub gently. For troublesome areas, apply a small puddle directly on the spot, keeping it contained for a minute before wiping. It will not harm the guitar body finish if it happens to touch it (just don't leave it there to dry). Products like Goo-Gone or even denatured alcohol can work well, but sometimes require multiple applications and are not always effective. Do not use nail polish remover (acetone), which will attack the surface finish and leave a dull spot. Best regards, DanaSquire Fat Strat pickguard plastic adhesive removal help?
